is there a good example of a xeriscaped yard in neighboorhood. Would lack of lawn be compatible with neighborhood design elements?

I'm sure no expert but alot of houses seem to be switching from grass to ground covers and they look really nice in the neighborhood. They also look like they are surviving better with the drought than the grass is. Also on the garden tour there was a house where the owner used drip irrigation under the mulch to put the water directly to the plant roots and he had alot of plants that seemed to need little water and they were healthy with the once a week watering. I'd be interested in hearing from some people who've had success during this drought especially if they are planting nice green stuff and not cactus.
