I love dogs, even though we don't own one. However, I work out of a home office, and one particular barking dog nearby is wreaking havoc with my ability to concentrate. He is 3 houses away, and although he doesn't bark cosntantly, he does bark for 5-20 seconds EVERY TIME anyone walks by (and we have a pretty active neighborhood). I don't think I should have to resort to headphones or ear plugs in order to get away from the nerve-jangling noise.
Here's the questions: is there an official way to lodge a complaint, or do we need to approach our neighbors and have a friendly chat? We're new here, we don't want to make any enemies, and I hate anything remotely resembling confrontation. Any advice or input would be appreciate. p.s. -- I did email a question to the mayor's neighborhood line, and their response was that we should call the police non-emergency line when the dog is barking. Sounds impractical, if not overzealous. Is there an Old Northeast Neighborhood Association Barking Dog Commtitee? Thanks.
