Housekeeping Chores #2

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
Afew months ago I was privately involved with the city having debate relative to snipe signs. (Those are the illigal signs placed along roadsides and nailed to telephone poles, etc.) Well, in one of my correspondence letters from the city, this letter having come from the legal department, I was informed that the North Shore signs which advertize our monthly general membership meetings were also considered snipe signs when they were placed in our traffic islands. The legal department even went so far as to send me photographs of a couple of these signs so posted. The message was that these signs could be removed at any time by city employees and the chances of us getting them back would be slim. We would probably loose them. I suggested to the board to find new sign locations which would not create this situation.

Well, about the time the city told me of this situation, along came CVS, and I got distracted with other things.

On August 14, at the NSNA board meeting, I remembered the city letter and informed the board of its content.

Now I am telling all of North Shore. So ends my responsibility on this snipe sign matter.

The next issue to be discussed here will be the Position Paper that is being produced at this time by the Committee of 26. (It really is 26, not 23, but whatever.) As I have previously said, when it has been written and reviewed by our committee, I will post it here. It will include the motions we are going to promote and the text explaining our actions and our position in this whole matter.

Everyone will get to see it long before we have a specially called general membership meeting. In this way everyone will have time to debate the merits of these motions, decide to vote or not vote for them, or possibly add other new motions to the list when they come to the specially called general membership meeting. (Once our Position Paper is approved by the Committee of 26, it will not be changed. Should anyone on this committee or should anyone out in North Shore wish to modify one or more of our motions or the text itself, it will have to be done at the specially called general membership meeting.)

And lastly, this morning I looked at the NSNA Hit Page to see what the activity level looked like and lo and behold this month is now the second highest month in terms of hits and all that. Who said this is not a hot topic. Curious minds, and all that, want to know. Claude, our editor, must be thrilled with all of the attention that this web site, that he created, is getting.

snipe signs

Why does your responsibility end regarding the neighborhood meeting signs? Aren't you still on the board?
I for one find them very helpful in reminding me that there is ameeting as I rush home from work. Any suggestions for an alternative?

SNIPE Signs

Rest assured, Curious, that you will continue to see signs of notification of the NSNA meetings. Mr. Lange informed the Board that the signs may only be placed on private property, so those responsible for posting the signs will secure new but visible placements for them. (By the way, say Thank you to Rob Wertz and Mike Dailey for taking responsibility for posting the signs).
thanks

Thank you for your reply Susan. And thank you to Mr. Wertz and Mr. Daily for putting them up each month.
