Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association

Some more Etc.

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
This web site continues to grow in numbers and interest. Glad to know that people are trying to find out the news in North Shore, by one means or another.

Overall, the Web Site Hits Report has set new records in participation this month. Almost in all categories, except of coarse, the newsletter category.

The committee of 23, er 25, er 26 is now up to 28. And this is just the core committee. We have'nt even asked for folks to volunteer to walk yet.

Soooooo, from now on you can call us the Committee of 28, unless of coarse I get more people calling in to me. I guess then I'll have to change the name again and then re-post it here again. Maybe its time to call this committee just The Committee. Sounds good to me. Let me know what you all think? O. K.

I wrote Susan R. a nice note about my sharing what I know about the North Shore landscaping with her. Have'nt heard a word from her. Is she out of town again? Surely, I would have heard from her by now?

By the way, I saw all of that landscaping interest posted here a couple of weeks ago. But the weeds are still there! Is this new interest group planning anything soon? If so could you let the rest of us know?

I am trying to get some new information on the Fourth Street Beautification Committee. When I get some information I will share it with you all. Right now things seem to be bogged down between new roadway improvements that the city wants to add to the overall scope of the work and it has been complicated by the right of way ownership. Seems that the D. O. T. does not have full control to improve all parts of the existing right of way and that this is causing a hold up. Until the D. O. T. has legal control of all areas it can not plant trees, etc. Will keep you posted.

No Note

I've received no note from you regarding the landscaping or the work of your committee. I do not read this website daily, so if you wish to communicate with me, please call me at the office, 727 550-8748 or e-mail me, rebillot@gte.net. We're fellow Board members--we can speak directly about Board business. Thanks.

Followup

Just a followup posting to say that I called Steve personally today, and he provided very helpful information regarding the previous work of the Landscaping Comittee and the status of projects. I will pass this information on to Cynthia Serra, who chairs the Beautification Committee, and I will volunteer my labor. Thanks to Steve and all volunteers for their work on Landscaping. Volunteers to continue to help weed, trim, mulch, feed, plant, etc. will be greatly appreciated.
Steve and I discussed the project at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Fourth St. N., and I will promote, support, and work on completing that project--that corner is a prominent one on the boundary of our neighborhood and could be absolutely beautiful. I will be proposing to the Board that some funds from the profits of the Home and Garden Tours of 2000-2001 be earmarked to beautify that corner. Ideas from other NSNA members regarding beautification will be appreciated.

May I ask how North Shore became responsible for maintaining these areas that need weeding?
