Below is a message from Amy & Steve Koehrsen about Elementary Redistricting. Steve is a member of the Elementary Redistricting committee.
As some of you may or may not know all areas north of Clark Shaw (including Kesslebrooke Station) that currently go to Liberty Tree are targeted to be redistricted next school year to a different Olentangy school. We could be sent to either Cheshire, Arrowhead or Heritage Elementary, with Arrowhead having the advantage. All three of these schools are located on the East side of 23.
While it is not a bad thing to be redistricted to one of these schools the main issue is once our children finish elementary, they would be sent to Hyatts Middle School, which is on the west side of the district and then as they reach high school would then be sent to Olentangy High School, which as you know is on the east side.
This is not a feasible situation and if you feel the same please come to the Olentangy School District Elementary School Re-districting Community Forum and let your feelings be known.
The meeting is Tuesday, January 24 at the Council of Older Adults, 800 Cheshire Road and begins at 7pm. School board members and Dr. Lucas will be in attendance to listen to the feedback on the proposed plans.
The link below contains the 8 current proposals for Elementary Redistricting. It is expected that prior to the meeting next week that the list will be narrowed down to 3 proposals.
