Thank you 2ford for the heads up. There are a few things that we can do to help prevent these types of criminal activities from happening in our community. Keep your lights on from about 8:30 pm until 6 am. If you get up during the night, take a look out of the window to see if there is someone walking around that you do not know. If there is call the POLICE at 207-7273 (SAPD) and ask that an officer drive through your neighborhood. During the day watch for those selling/canvasing the neighborhood and take their picture if you can, this way we have something to show the Police Officers when they show up. If someone rings your door bell during the week, look through to peep hole first, then if you do not recognize them, do not open the door or have words with them, let them go to the next house. If you are outside and someone walks up trying to sell something, ask them for their City of San Antonio peddlers permit. They are required by law to carry a current up to date permit on them at all times. Whenever in doubt, call the POLICE.
In order to keep our community safe we should contact the City of San Antonio Police Department's SAFFE officer at the Prue Rd. sub-station and ask how we can get involved in a neighborhood crime watch or COP program. If we ignore the problem, it will get worse. But if we tackle the problem, we can rid our community of the looters and unwanted criminals that lurk our streets day and night. Even if those criminals are our own children and neighbors. Just think of what happened to MRS. Barrios. Crime is next door, and can be in your own home, if you are not aware of what is happening in your community. GET INVOLVED in your HOA and ask questions at the meetings. If you think there are not enough meetings in you HOA, ask that a NEWSLETTER be created and sent out on a monthly basis, to keep the residents informed. Thank everyone for their comments and concerns for Lincoln Park.
