I would love to know more info about the buglar alarm that does not have a monthly fee, that sounds great.

No Fees
No monthly fee needed. There are many alarm system configurations from which to choose that do not require a monthly fee. Just set them up with siren only. Or silent alarm to next-door neighbors. Many possibilities. One or two neighbors should have access to house in case you are gone to check out or call police or reset alarm. A simple system would be 2 infrared detectors (interior) a control box with backup battery, a keypad, and a siren or horn unit, which can be placed out of sight in an attic vent or just above an overhang vent out of sight in the attic. Door and window switches could also be added. This system can be wired or better yet get the totally wireless units. Very easy to set up. Each separate component has a long-life replaceable battery. You can install whole system in 4 hours easy. All keypads have a panic button. Also, if you wish to have monitoring I would suggest one of the cell phone based systems. Running on batteries and no phone line is better (in case the BG cuts the lines) Much info on Internet how to set up system without a monthly monitor fee, then check out Radio Shack, Home Depot, Lowe?’s, etc Also try local wholesale alarm companies. Hope this helps. |

Interior lights timers, etc. 1st
Here is great cheap setup: Motion lights, interior lights on variable timers, front porch and/or back porch lights on wall-switch variable timers. All at Home Depot, Lowe's. Alarms are good second option - making house look ''probably or possibly'' occupied is the best thing you can do. WHY? Remember most criminals are aware that many homeowners have always been armed... But with the passage of KY's so called ''Stand Your Ground - Castle Doctrine'' law in 2006 - they know the liklihood of being shot went WAY up. By annonymous |

LMPD Invited to Our Next Meeting
I have invited a member of the LMPD from our District 7 to join us at the next meeting on Feb. 10th to provide us with safety and security tips, bring us helpful information, and to answer questions. There are good safety and security tips, suggestions, and information posted here too. Thank you neighbors! By Lisa Curran Colvin |
