Is it OK to disagree here?

Posted in: SANA
We have lived Sunshine Acres for 25 years, and we don't need streetlights. We like it just that way it is. It is really nice to on the porch at night without bright light shining in our yard or in our direction.

We have very little crime here. Please don't start putting up lights. Thank you.

Safety or Security Issue

I think it is important to disagree here, when you disagree. And you have done so quite appropriately, with thought and reason. Thank you.

I think if the lights are to address a safety concern, they are beneficial. There are a some very nice street lights already in the neighborhood, and some dark areas that could use some lighting, and not in an intrusive way. LG&E does proper assessments and uses guidelines to determine where street lighting is beneficial for safety or security reasons, and consistent with existing lighting in a neighborhood. You can contact LG&E Outdoor Lighting department for more information.
Disagreement

I've only been here a year and already I have seen or heard about bikes being stolen and kids selling Sudafed to get high on. Subtle lighting would increase safety of our streets where everyone seems to park! Statistics say that in well lit neighborhoods, crime stays low and people get outdoors and walk their neighborhoods. Just my own opinion...
