What are we going to do about school lunch? Can anyone advise of who to complain to; to get things resolved? the portion sizes are not enough for what we pay for these lunches. Our kids come home starving from school. I ate at the school earlier last week and the kids (all of them ) got 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich for the main dish! Now im not sure about you but some of those fourth and fifth graders can eat two whole sandwiches if not more just themselves. I know that we can pack lunches for our kids but there are some kids that don't have parents there in the morning to do that for them. And another situation when they have a pretzel with cheese for the main dish or nachos? They received 7 nachos to dip in the meat sauce. A meal that consists of 7 chips! we need all you parents out there to start complaining too so we can get something done.

the director of food service. Her office is at 2900 Mulberry ave. The number there is 263-7223. I hate to pack lunch I would rather eat school lunch. Until lately they have had the student portion and the adult portion. The last few times I have eaten I have gotten the same size as the children, with a 2nd cup of fruit. I certainly pay more then the students so I have stopped eating at work. Now I have to pack lunch bummer.

I can tell you the portion size is set my the state or federal government and complaining will not help.

I couldn't agree with you more! School lunches, which were at one time very satisfying, are now pathetic. The theory used to be that the lunch HAD to be substantial because it was the one and only decent hot meal some kids got all day. Now, it seems to be, let's skimp by as cheaply as possible, they'll make up for it at home.
Sadly, it ain't going to change for the better, so your only option is to pack your own nourishing lunch, as we often do. Good Luck!
