What is going on in this world that innocent babies are being abused and injured by foster parents and people trying to adopt? How are these poor things slipping through the cracks . Is DHS so hard up trying to get care for these children that they will give them to anyone anymore. Not to long ago a 5 month old was injured while in the hands of a relative doing foster care. Now a baby that was going to be adopted is brain damaged for life. This woman is only facing 10 years. The baby has to face life now with brain damage. Heads need to start rolling at the Iowa Department of Human Services for allowing this stuff to happen. It breaks my heart , that these babies had to go through this. It makes me wonder how many more babies and young children are being abused in foster homes.

my daughter was abused

and DHS already wants mom to have a visit. Mom has had no treatment what so ever. I had to push the D.A. and DHS to get them to do their jobs. DHS wanted her(my daughter) to go back to her mom after two days. I had to push to have mom arrested and charged 2 wks later. She(mom) is currently hiding to avoid being served for court. She lies to DHS about where she lives. She still refuses to take responsibility for attacking her daughter. This happened in June and we had our first family meeting last week. The meeting was about mom's visits. Nothing about what mom has to do to get her visits. Mom drags out what DHS wants her to do in hopes that DHS will give up. Which is not very much at all. DHS is like all gov. agencies, they look good, but in reality they do nothing. Sad fact is that unless it is real bad the child stays. You can't see how bad the system is til you are in it! Personally I think crimes against child should carry stiff penalties. she should face 20 to life. What say you!

DHS

I don't believe that you should blame DHS. We have had issues in our household as far back as 10 years ago. I personally knew the people that we were dealing with, and they told me that they were so short staffed way back then, that there was NO WAY that they could keep up with anything! Thank Congress and your Govenor for the budget cuts throughout the State for things that ''we'', common Joe, think are important. That's why we need to vote, and, to find out what people in Congress stand for, and, what's important to them. Obviously, DHS is on the bottom of the list, and, has been for over 10 years, or, these kind of things would'nt be happening. JMHO. Tom Milder.

makes me sick. People like this woman get 10 years but only end up serving 1/2 the time and are back out there to do it again. Criminals who do a non-violent crime get longer time than people that do a violent crime and have to serve the whole amount of time. I think that people that do violent crimes should get the longer time because they are more likely to commit the crime again, because most of them do it out of rage, who knows maybe this baby wouldn't stop crying because it had colic or something and she just couldn't take it. I know what it is like to have a baby with colic and it drives you crazy, I like most other parents lock themselves in the bathroom and cry themselves, but wouldn't think to harm their kids. Non-violent criminals should not get more time than someone that does things out of rage. Non-violent criminals do things out of need such as for example the lady that stole money from the company she worked for. She should have to get another job and have to pay every single dime back to the company she stole it from, and have to work a 2nd job just to pay her own bills at home.

Anyways this just makes me sick.
