Wal-Mart improves employee health plan.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is adding $4 generic drugs to its health insurance plans and offering lower premiums and deductibles, the third year in a row of changes to employee health benefits that have been a focus of union-led criticism of the nation's largest private employer.

The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer said the 2008 plan will add more than 2,400 generic prescriptions at $4 each.

Why did it take this wonderful business giant three years to get to the point that unions wanted them to be at?

After all this time, there still is less than 50% of the company's 1.34 million U.S. employees enrolled in Wallyworld company coverage. Why do you suppose that is?

I get so damned tired of hearing you badmouth Wal-Mart EVERY chance that you get! I retired from the City of Muscatine after 30 years, and, IF I would have continued on with the Citys' Blue Cross plan, it would have cost me $1032/month. The Citys' policy (self insured), was lacking @ best. I AM a full-time Associate @ Wal-Mart, AND damned proud of it! My family coverage is less than $100/month. Considerably less than BC/BS with the City. Policies are comparable. I'm sure that if you took a nation wide poll, you might be surprised at the numbers that you get, for un/under insured people. But I know, it's ALL Wal-Marts' fault. God, I wish I had the smarts that Sam Walton did.
