Muscatine

A very good and long time friend of mine who works at one of the local banks asked me if I had noticed that this bank was ''over advertising'' itself as of late, especially on the MPW cable channels. I had in fact noticed that everytime I turned around the bank was advertising this or that, even one that pandered to parents of young children.
My friend says that this bank is in trouble, and that's the reason they are spending so much money trying to drum up new business. I wonder if this is true? I can't imagine advertising yourself to death unless you were desperate. At some point, seeing the same commercial time after time becomes very annoying at best, and a seeming waste of investor's money at worst.

that whatever bank he speaks of is not necessarily in trouble (check quarterly reports of all 3 ''local'' banks, and you'll see), but perhaps his job is in jeopardy? Local radio/cable air time is relatively cheap, and any local business would be foolish not to take advantage of this low-cost way of reaching potential customers.

rhirdt, unless you have solid facts, what you are doing is incite a frenzy among those who are not financially secure, or those who believe everything they read on the internet. You should be ashamed of yourself.

If you have solid facts, share them. If you don't, and you are just spreading rumor and speculation, you are doing nobody a service here.

I gather from your response that either you or somone close to you is employed at this bank, and your ''solid facts'' comment says it all. When have you ever insisted on ''solid facts'' on this site? If ''solid facts'' were required in every post, there would be no posts.
I merely passed on the words of another as clearly stated in my post nothing more so I feel no obligation to ''fact check'' anything.

Those who believe everything they read on the internet should be ashamed of themselves and that applies double to posts such as these. Take it for what it's worth if anything. It means nothing to me one way or the other.
