A few thoughts

How someone responds here has nothing to do with their allegiance to this town.

I'm glad you enjoy the jokes. Many here come for other reasons. I would suggest ticklebones.com, a joke site run by Jeff who frequents this place occasionally.

Your admiration for the poster named Chosen is confusing. You strive for the positive, the caring, sharing and supporting posts, but just yesterday he lost his temper (again) and called someone a ''lying freaking moron''. (I was told this as I have quit reading his posts) Seems a bit of a contradiction, as he has exhibited similar behaviors on many occasions.

You don't get to choose how or why people respond. Someone named Susan does limit vulgar language and content.

If your kids are reading these posts, you need to get a better handle on your kids.

You can choose who to respond to, and so can I. You don't get to make the board like you want it to be. We had a fellow here from the north who wanted to do that, and it just won't happen.

Bottom line....99% of Muscatine doesn't know this place even exists. Lighten up.

An answer, of sorts

to your question about multiple IDs. People don't always use them to cause trouble. I've taken the liberty of C & P Jeff's post from earlier this year when he outed himself as 2 different IDs as an explanation for it.

Busted!

May 22, 2007
What can I say? It?’s a slow day at the office and I am bored so I posted then answered my own post. Just trying to get some discussion going. I guess I forgot which one I was logged in under. Oh, maybe three years ago I signed on as workn4downtown. I was president of the GDMA at the time and was trying to promote the down town. Well one of your fellow posters made some real vicious statements about downtown, lies actually and I wanted to ?“set him straight.?” So I signed on as opinionated and let him have it. I remember something about ?“an uninformed, misrepresenting idiot who sat in front of the computer in his underwear making up stuff.?” A real zinger, huh? It must have been before MPW initiated the one persona rule as I was never restricted to one. After that incident I got off Neighborhood link in disgust. A couple of months ago I got back on and was having such a good time with you all, I started posting again. Using my workn4downtown persona as the normal well meaning, somewhat sane guy and my opinionated persona as the impish, wise cracking nut. All in fun. I now have to be real careful I don?’t give away my third persona. You guys forgive Me? Let this be a lesson to all of you, remember who you are logged in as.

-By Jeff (opinionated)

Now, I'm not saying everyone has the best of intentions in mind when they use more than one ID, but don't instantly assume someone is a jerk just because they have more than one. Personally, it doesn't matter to me how many IDs someone has, as long as they aren't using them to be a total @$$. Hope this helps you out a little.
