Kids menu-gohawks
Hey...you have a valid point gohawks!
GOHAWKS point is that it's important that parents have an adult place to go and reconnect.
It's also important for all Restraunt owners to accept & respect a parents desire to share a family night out. My desire, as a parent is that my children grow up WANTING TO EXPERIENCE the world, (cultures, languages & foods). We live in a family oriented town, VERY RICH with cultural diversity. Let's learn & then share that with our children.
I was lucky with my children. Food was an adventure to my kids & the kids I have provided daycare for. We had fruit & vegetable days of the week. IF they were willing to help prepare the snacks, they could taste-test it! If they chose not to taste, they chose NOT to prepare the food of the day. There was always an alternate quiet activity while the rest of us had fun preparing & wondering if we'd like it. We always had a garbage bag handy for the ''brave ones'' to spit ''an offending food'' out. NO HARM, NO FOUL!
I asked the question posed about a kid's menu. Tantra restraunt does not have a ''kids menu''... pizza, hot dogs, etc, at this time! They will offer their very healthy Thai menu, in smaller portions, with less spices @ a cheaper price. A parent just needs to talk to the waiter/waitress. The kids will LOVE the ''fried pineappple rice''! My very HARD TO PLEASE HUSBAND ATE 3 HELPINGS! It has pineapple chunks, raisins, cashew nuts, and vegetables. The kids will love it & have no idea how good it is for them. Parent's can then share bits of their meal & introduce them to other flavors from their meal. (If they don't like it, tell them to politely spit it out on their napkins!). The kids will love the fried banana spring roll.
As I stated earlier, our whole family went to the open house. We had our 14 year old son and our 7& 8 year old grandaughters with us.
Every one of them left the restraunt happy & satisfied. They were happy they were there. A close friend of ours had her 4 year old there. He ate his food.
Bottom line is that every parent thinks they know what their children will like. I THOUGHT I KNEW what my husband's taste buds were like after almost 30 yrs. Boy was I wrong! I work downtown. There are so many WONDERFUL RESTRAUNTS! I, for one, am so happy they are a choice I have to taste & learn about. Muscatine is lucky to have all of them, IMHO. (My husband liked it, I'm a happy camper!). LOL!
