Has come a long ways. The projects done by the city have impoved its look and created tons more foot traffic. One thing I would like to know and I think mr. kopf may be able to find out. Why no restaurants on the riverfront? I have been to dubuque many times and that is a true river community. You can go up and see families upon families out on the river having fun together. There are MULTIPLE restaurants on the river there. Around muscatine, you have to either go 45 minutes south(avg boat ride) to get to a river eatery or lock through north and go to duckys or the Lighthouse. Why cant Muscatine have a place like that? I have heard it is because muscatines elected officials do not want alcohol on the riverfront....If this is the only reason, i think it is a poor one. Once again, another way to bring money to the community by drawing the outside to us, instead of the outside drawing us away from town.....

The Button Factory

My friend is a great addition to downtown muscatine. If you have not been to Dubuque to know what I am talkking about when i say ''riverfront eatery''. Im talking about the boat parking with walk in access to the restaurant. A deck over the river with live bands. Indoor/outdoor eating. Actaully on the river, to promote boaters from north and south to the town, and a new expreience for eating in muscatine. i have a vision and would love to do it. Too bad the corp owns all the riverfront, and, supposedly, that there is no need for that kind of establishment on the riverfront. i say bull! lets see it done!

Sorry...

I'd hate to see the riverfront cluttered up with more buildings. Especially some Gerties greasy griddle. Tell me, what makes otherwise probably sane people want to put a restaurant on every available open space with any kind of view? How many eateries can we absorb? there's islands out in the river. Oh, I know. Lets put a restaurant on them. Scheese.
