DF and Troy Delano

I swore I would not reply to childish talk, but you went too far.

How in gods green earth can you blame us for costing kids their Christmas???

Who was to blame when our Haunted House was shut down?... We were for not being up to fire code. So why is it our fault that Jaycee's was shut down for not being safe? Jaycees commented in the Journal that safety was their number one concern. So, if you read that article you would see that they were shut down for safety concerns.

I will swear my innocents in this matter until the day I die, as if it matters, but I will NOT let you slander us by saying we have costed kids their Christmas. YOU have gone way over the line, and if you are so big as you talk on here, you should appologize.

It doesn't matter who called in the State Fire Marshall. What's fair for one is fair for all. If I learned one thing for Cheif Dalbey, it was that, if its not safe, THEY WILL SHUT YOU DOWN. So would it have been better to keep them open and have an accident so these ''kids'' had a Christmas?

Why do you think Jaycees holds their Haunted Houses in the county. One reason and one reason ONLY... to skip the safety inspection. I hope the publicity that we have raised has brought attention to the local Fire Marshall's. I am a Haunted House fanatic, and I never knew that county Haunted Houses were not inspected until our problem arrised. I will not apologize for bringing attention to the local Fire Marshalls about Haunted Houses in the county. If anything you should be thanking our group for possibly protecting a few people from an otherwise dangerous situation.

To sum this up, this is the way I see all of this with Jaycee's. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. It doesn;t matter what we say or write, everyone has already came to their own conclusion. Some beleive we are not the caller, some don't. Some will come to our Haunted Shop, and some won't. When this media hype is all over with some of you will look back and see what we were saying when we said, ''what's fair for us, is fair for all, NO matter where your Haunt is.'' I can not beleive that people would blame us for bringing attention to make things safe.

Also I do have one comment to Troy Delano. This man is suppose to be the Chairman for Muscatine Jaycee's, yet all night Friday he and a car load of ''kids'' drove past our shop yelling our the car windows. I know this for a fact, because I know his car and Troy. Just last night another car load drove by yelling, ''You Suck'' while our 10 and 12 year olds were standing outside. I don't know about everyone else, but this is a little childish, and I can't believe someone who is suppose to be a Chairman acts in this manner. I am not going to come on here crying about Troy. I will simply go to the Iowa Jaycees with the recorded video of his childish ways. That is a promise. My step fathers shop has numerous outdoor video cameras, and his childish ways were caught on video Friday. So, for you Troy Delano, keep up your childish acts, and be turned into Jaycees, with video proof, or just admit that you yourself admitted to my sister that you build your haunts in the county to avoid inspections, and that the barn this year was unsafe and thats why it was shut down.

In closing, THANK YOU TO THE HUNDREDS of people who did come to our Haunted Shop this weekend and helped us support the LOCAL Red Cross and High School Food Drive. From what I have heard from all of you as you were leaving, you definately got your monies worth. I hope to see many more of you this coming weekend. Also we did have one confirmed pissing, and 4 who could not make it through and had to be escorted out with flash lights. LOL. We have raised very good money for Red Cross and the High School Food Drive, so far. I will post the totals at the end of the season.

THANK YOU MUSCATINE FOR ALL YOU SUPPORT!!!!!!!

by the way

I guess I do have one more thing to say. I want all of you who are mad about Haunted Houses having to be inspected in the county, to remember one thing....

This is part of the concern that we expressed to the Mayor when we had our meeting. For the most part, the county is all volunteer fire departmens. If a Haunted House in the county were to catch fre, with people trapped, what is the likelyhood that the volunteer fire department would make it in time to save these people? To us, that makes it even more crucial for the county Haunted Houses to be inspected. I would think, in the city, with the Fire Department much closer and quicker to respond, would have a lot more chance to save a victim in a Haunted House in the city. I am not trying to slam the volunteer fire departments. I live in the county and have seen them respond very quickly at times. But as most of you know, some of them could be at work, out to dinner, or doing something else to make the responce time much longer, and I am sure they would admit this themselves. I am thankful for the volunteers in everyway, but the fact is, their responce is just not as quick when they are trying to cover such a vast area.

So, like it or hate, Jaycees was shut down for one reason only...safety concerns. I will agree that their closing will make it harder for some kids at Christmas, but who is to blame? We did not build their Haunted Barn, just as they commented when we were shut down, '' you built it wrong, they told how to fix, and you chose not too, so its your own fault you are in the position you are in.''

need cameras checked

First of all I think you need to have your camera lens checked because its hard to be in two places at once.Troy Delano was out of town with me and twelve other people in North Liberty at their haunted barn and Iowa City at the feild of screams. Want proof just call them.As for being in the county, the reason is because everyone knows you cant run gas chainsaws in town. The jaycees have never tried dodging anything. As for the safety aspect, they ran thousands of people last year with no problem. Someone from your group themselves said they had a blast at the barn. And you can ask Dalbey but he will deny it,that he himself said it was you who drug the jaycees into this and was going to make a phone call. The jaycees had no problem with another haunted house opening upbecause it gave people a variety. But dont worry ,Troy will be on to address all comments so keep watching.

just to explain things

Ecept for this year, the barns have been close enough to a town with an established full time fire dept. They have always had a barn but for one year at the mall.Everyone knows you can do more in the country than in townto make it more exciting for the customers. As far as being built wrong, the state fire marshall said there are no codes for haunted houses so you get lumped into categories depending on how much business you do. Guess it's a sin for being good at what you do.
