Not that we don't need it, but I'm happy it's not raining right now. This is such a beautiful, cool morning. After my *Joe and oatmeal, I'm going to unroll the hose and put out that smoldering stump my husband set ablaze Friday and weed my flower beds. Time to cull the berry vines and chuck the milkweed pods. We just love to feed the monarchs before they head south. I just cannot figure out why we had so few hummingbirds this season? I tell Bob every year not to mow off my peonies before they go to seed but he does. I'd like to put a few on the east side of the house. I don't want to transplant so seeds are the best way to do it. A few afternoons past I pulled some nettle and sufferd the price. If you ever do get those acidy little needles under your skin, just take some ductape and pressit over the red streeks and pull em out. It's hard to believe, but my mother use to make a tea from the root. Pehaps it's one reason she kept us focussed in this life for 98 years. She always said to stay away from the nettle. Never let us pull them, but every year they dissapeared like magic. Now I tried this bitter stuff and just like Joe at a younger age, I didn't like it. Ma never made us drink that tea but we had to try a sip or anything else before we could say we didn't like it. Well ladies and gents, I am off so have a great day and better nights sleep. Me and my sausage fingers are goin to work with mother nature today.
