I say again, "...all newly-elected presidents except Zachary Taylor, Richard Nixon and George H. W. Bush were accompanied by control of at least one house of Congress."

BDI, you must know that it was Bill Clinton, not Bush, who signed the big NAFTA trade agreement in 1994.

And BDI, as far as Bush goes, please can you tell me specifically what he did that has you all riled up.  I don't want to hear generalities.  I want to know specifically what bill he signed or executive order he promulgated that significantly affected our employment numbers, etc.  Or are you talking about the costs incurred fighting the wars in Afgahnistan and Iraq?  Are you talking about the debt?  Or are you talking about unemployment?  Or the housing market? The tech. bubble?   What specifically is it?  I mean I truly want to know what exactly it is that has you pissed off at Bush.  You know, something like "he did X and it caused Y as evidenced by A and B".

By the way, when Clinton signed the NAFTA agreement in 1994, the democrats had control of both the House and Senate.  The Republicans won control in Nov. 1994 and weren't sworn in until early 1995.

Obama's stimulus plan did work almost, had he included in the stimulus the plan what he proposed last night, it would have worked.  The stimulus caused the economy to start  recovery, manufacturers were starting to hire, business was starting to pick up, and this was directly caused by the stimulus.  The problem it was too little, too late, and the positive attitude of the public was stopped by the Republicans wanting Obama's ass and not caring about the Economy.

Again, this time, it may be too little too late.   There is one factor that didn't happen during the last recession that it still alive and growing.  Big business has more spare cash today than ever before in history.  With over a Trillion dollars sitting in Corporates mattress and not being spent, invested, just sitting there, there is no possibility of new employment and new jobs.  There is some kind of ratio sumething as for every new job created there is over $100,000.00 placed into the economic speedway for turning over the dollar.  This isn't happening, and we need to make it happen.

Perhaps it should be said, if the TEA (Republicans) party continues to resist any change it is inevitable a crash of our economy will make the depression of the 30's seem like a pleasant joke.  Yes, then, Republicans will have the Presidency during the time they start shooting our citizens because thay can't put food on the table unless it is stolen.

in a fiat monetary system bailouts, stimulus packages and QE(quantitative easing) does not and never will help it only adds to the pain. we are over burden by our debt with no sign of slowing the spending machine. stimulus ,bailouts and QE's only cause more debt and more inflation. every time they print or release more currency into the system they add inflation which is really devaluation of the current dollars in circulation, which means it takes more dollars(inflation) to buy the same things bought before the print or release of currency. What we need is spending cuts(not just welfare and medicare but cuts in foreign policy, the war machine, corporate welfare useless departments(departments that are failing, departments like education, FEMA, DEA, ATF, federal reserve, IRS, etc, etc) and revamping the ones that could work! and last but not least, return our manufacturing by repealing the NAFTA's and free trade deals!!!!!!

here's a video about this very subject don't be fooled by the animation this is fact based information and 100% true!!!!the American dream! and here is the interview of one of the producers- How "the fed" scammed you: tad lumpkin- the american dream producer

one question: why would a country pay interest on their currency when they have the power to print their own currency INTEREST-FREE??????????????????????

Hiroad. Sorry I vacated the den for some time. Yup, you are right. Clinton put free trade on the map as it were. He did it without the tax free status given to corparica though. However, it was a ridiculous slippery slope move and he knew it. Had to have known how bad it was for our future. Clinton was a rat in more ways than one to be sure.  As for bush, well lets be honest. Give me the upside of his two terms and then we can talk virtue. Tomorrow I will go toe to toe with you sir. My faith that a true conservative republican still exists hasn't gone. But it's so hard to see it, him, or her right now. As for bozobama, well win or lose he isn't the man for the job. So we keep a vigil for the light at the end of the tunnel. Good night.
