I'll go with Openshaw at this moment. She seems more concentrated on bringing businesses back to Muscatine.

All are Republicans; all basicallty dance to the same tune; all claim to be conservative; none are consetvative; all have many faults from their religion, to booze, to leadership ability; all have their positive points as well. The most important thing is to judge them by their leadership ability since the position of Mayor is mainly as a ribbon cutting weak Mayor position. The position could become stronger if the City Council were to reinstate some of the mayor's power taken away when LeMar was holding that position. A good full time paid mayor could easily take the City Administrators position, saving thousands of dollars each year. Maybe someday. Two of the three have demonstrated poorly in administration of a business. Roby as Postmaster in money loosing Muscatine's Post Office, Hoppy drove the radio station down the loose money path, Openshaw nobody knows about. Lets see if any will truly address the issues of Muscatine? |
