More clutter. WTF?

Correction: First city council meeting was Dec 8.

Interesting.......M. Journal, Sept 22, 2006:

"The mall was purchased by a group of regional businessmen, Muscatine Mall Management LLC, in July.

One of those owners, Rodney Blackwell, told the Council that the TIF was being sought so that they could do an estimated $4 million in renovation, including a new roof, facade and asphalt.

Blackwell said the renovations would help attract businesses and revitalize the property. To those ends, he said owners have already been in talks with the movie theater owners, Fridley Theatres of Des Moines, for an expansion of the existing theater. A completely new theater could also potentially be built on mall property.

The theater has done really well.  We think with a state-of- the-art theater, the whole complex will work really well,” Blackwell said."

Nigel; you may just be right about Cedar:

Journal, Jan 10th, 2012:

"The plan includes construction of a 44-foot-wide connector street off Mulberry Avenue that could eventually connect with Cedar Street.

Fridley’s current, four-screen theater is located in the Muscatine Mall.

There’s no need at this time for additional signaling or turning lanes off Mulberry Avenue, the plan states."

Yes, that's the blurb I recalled.  It's good to know I haven't completely lost my mind or memory at this point, but am merely slowly marching toward that point.

Thanks.

The concern about Mulberry Ave is well founded.  Don't forget that soon, Cedar St. from Houser to Parham will be closed to all through traffic for a very long time.  This alone will result in much greater traffic volume for this stretch of Mulberry.  Additionally, the schoool district is proposing a 19 million dollar renovation of the High School during this time.  That will stress the Mulberry corridor even further.  It must be noted, also, that part of the reason most people go the movies out of town is the deplorable condition the local Fridley Theater is in.  The last time I was there, the place was filthy with many seat backs broken off!
