that's weird because I thought at the time 1946 it was only 17% jewish. sir just cause you used to live on some land does not mean you own it, least you give your house back to the native Americans!!!!!

Palestine's Population Distribution Per District as of 1946

As of 1914, Jews in Palestine (who were mostly persecuted European Jews) were under 8% of the total population and owned under 2% of the total land. Despite active British support for settling of even more persecuted European Jews in Palestine, as of 1947 Jews constituted only 33% of the total population (only one third of them gained Palestinian Citizenship). Scroll to the end of the page for the source and for a more detailed tabular break down of population distribution.

It should be noted that many of these persecuted European Jews were

illegal immigrants according to the Government of Palestine, which ceased to exist as of May 14th, 1948.

The Birth of Israel(full)

Documentary examining the events leading up to the Israeli war of Independence in 1949, its continuing impact on Arab/Israeli relations and the implications for the Middle East peace process.

Sixty years ago Israel established itself in the wake of the British Mandate of Palestine.

For the Palestinians, expelled from their homes in the process, the Israeli War of Independence is still known as The Catastrophe (al-Nakba).

Jeremy Bowen, the BBC's Middle East editor examines the events leading up to the conflict, the war itself and the lasting legacy for the Middle East.

why must palestinians pay for the holocaust, they had nothing to do with!!!!!

Prior to World War I, the land was part of the Ottoman empire, not a separate country.

After World War I, Britain chopped the land up and named it arbitrarily. One of the "Mandates" (eumphamism for colony) was Palestine. I have read books by Holocaust survivors which mention the existence of a Palestine back then, in case anyone wants to claim I'm listening to anti-Semitic propaganda.

Then, after World War II, there was the Partition of Palestine, in which the land was split into Israel and Palestine. Israel had 51% of the land, even though Jews were a minority. 90% of the land that the treaty allowed Palestinians to keep has since been taken over by Israel.

So yes, it did exist. Since they have never been allowed state rule, we could say it wasn't a "country," but then "country" is a very new term. For a long time the countries of Europe were called nations, for example. Most older history books refer to them as nation-states.

Ben Swann: "No Country Would Tolerate Missiles From Outside Borders" U.S. Hypocrisy?

Ben Swann takes a look at the statement last week by President Obama that "No country would tolerate missiles being fired from outside their borders". We compare the numbers on U.S drone strikes in Yemen and Pakistan.

Jewish Man Exposes Israel's Lies

The General's Son. Miko Peled is a peace activist who dares to say in public what others still choose to deny. Born in Jerusalem in 1961 into a well known Zionist family, his grandfather, Dr. Avraham Katsnelson was a Zionist leader and signer of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. His Father, Matti Peled, was a young officer in the war of 1948 and a general in the war of 1967 when Israel conquered the West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights and Sinai.
Miko's unlikely opinions reflect his father's legacy. General Peled was a war hero turned peacemaker.
Miko grew up in Jerusalem, a multi-ethnic city, but had to leave Israel before he made his first Palestinian friend, the result of his participation in a dialogue group in California. He was 39.
On September 4, 1997 the beloved Smadar, 13, the daughter of Miko's sister Nurit and her husband Rami Elhanan was killed in a suicide attack.
Peled insists that Israel/Palestine is one state—the separation wall notwithstanding, massive investment in infrastructure, towns and highways that bisect and connect settlements on the West Bank, have destroyed the possibility for a viable Palestinian state. The result, Peled says is that Israelis and Palestinians are governed by the same government but live under different sets of laws.
At the heart of Peled's conclusion lies the realization that Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace as equals in their shared homeland.

try listening to some of these people and you might learn something!!!!!

Like I've said before here quite a few times:

All I need to know is:  If Israels' enemies were completely disarmed, there would be peace in the middle east.  If Israel was completely disarmed, the Israelies would all be killed.

In all my daze,

I didn't foresee the one where I'd have to totaly agree with you. This has becvome that day. The question faded to comment there in the end though, but seeing the point and wondering myself.

AGREED.
