No we are not in agreement.

You are pitting your hopes on some fluffy idea of "diplomacy" somehow jury rigged and conducted under obama's direction, with an undefined goal or end point.

Actually, the White House "strategy" for Syria -- based on the hope that Moscow would push Assad to relinquish power at peace talks in Geneva -- has collapsed. Why would Assad (or Russian leader Vladimir Putin) bend when victory is in sight?

Obama doesn't seem to grasp that Syria has become a strategic contest that
the whole world is watching -- one that involves core U.S. security interests.
The president's indecision on Syria has signaled to Russia, Iran and Hezbollah
(and China and the Taliban) that they can ignore Obama's tough talk. It has also strained relations with Arab allies who fear Iran and want to see its hold on Syria broken.

Diplomacy, especially the inept efforts conducted by the obumbler, cannot succede.

My wish is that we pull back from helping either side and make it well known that we will be happy to see them wipe each other out as neither is our friend now or will likely ever be.

My idea is neither fluffy nor jury rigged.   How do you arrive at such a conclusion?

What is your diplomatic strategy?  You've been pretty vague.   Perhaps it's fluffy.   Or is it to do nothing?

To allow that to happen is not diplomacy.  Someone will prevail and you will have lost any opportunity to influence who it is.

You also may, or will, lose a lot of friends if you let it happen.

As an aside, I always knew it as "jerry-rigged" from WWII usage but you made me check it out and both "jury-rigged" and "jerry-rigged" are acceptable.

If you rely on the obumbler to conduct the diplomacy, it will be fluffy and jury rigged.  He is an amature, immature and only surrounds himself with "yes men".  Most of his appointments have been disasters.   He has never explained his "foreign strategy".   Undoubtedly he has none.   I have no hope about, or faith in, the current screw ball regime.

I don't have a diplomatic strategy.  I don't need one. I'm not a diplomat.  I would like to leave that up to people that channel Ronny Reagan.   Diplomacy only works when backed up by "the big stick".

"You also may, or will, lose a lot of friends if you let it happen."

Uh....explain what you mean by "you let it happen"......and which friends would we lose?  Name one.
