Lane Closures on the U.S. 61 Muscatine Bypass in Muscatine County Begin Aug. 16 #iatraffic
MOUNT PLEASANT – Aug. 8, 2013 – Shoulder widening and concrete patching work on the U.S. 61 Muscatine bypass will require lane and shoulder closures in each direction from the intersection of U.S. 61 and Iowa 92 (milepost 85.64) to the intersection of U.S. 61 and Iowa 38 (milepost 92.73) beginning Friday, Aug. 16, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office.
During construction, at least one lane will be open to traffic in each direction of U.S. 61. There is an 11-foot width lane restriction in the project area. This project is expected to be completed by mid-November.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
