Hello to whomever may be able to help me find something from my past. In 1961-62, our family moved to Muscatine and we rented a farm house just outside of town. I've always had fond memories of those days and playing in the surrounding countryside. The one memory that stays with me the most, is that I attended the 4th grade at a country school not far from where we lived. I think there were 2 grades in that one room school, 4th and 5th. I'm trying to find out what the name of the school was and where it was located. My father has passed and my mom cannot remember the road we lived on.

You would have to be more specific about which way outside of town you lived. There were a lot of country schools surrounding Muscatine in the early 60's. I can offer that Olive Branch was south of town on Highway 61; and Lone Tree school was south of town on Stewart Road by the gravel pits. They both had combined grades too. What does your memory serve on the geograpy? That whole south area was/is called "the island".

BTW. I attended the first half of 3rd grade at Olive Branch in 61. We then moved south to the Louisa-Muscatine Schools and I went to Letts for school then after the semester break.

The one room school houses were closed in 1960 - 1961 in the Muscatine School System.  Ralston was the School Superintendent.

Just outside Muscatine could have been Colorama (sp?), which was the clostest to City of  Muscatine, I think.
