Deck awnings

I have noticed on this site there are several people that do not put there names up or try to stir up trouble.
I have seen the awning in question and it is very tastful. It is not harming anyone ,doesnt seem to take away from our neighborhood although the mess around the house next door to the awning house does and no one seems to worry about it .So I say to you people if you have nothing better to do but try to stir up trouble please look for things that are taking away from our neighborhood or just mind your own business.

Thanks for your support

A word of thanks to Jack for his kind words regarding our awning. We certainly had no idea there would be this much discussion about it. We certainly enjoy it a great deal.

I went straight to Joy Goldsberry at Ghertner to ask about it. She could find nothing about it, in fact said as long as it was in good taste she could see nothing wrong with it. This was part of a long conversation in which I brought up the conditions around the house next door.

I asked that she please drive thru to look at the mess, and to see if there were some way to ask the owners to clean up their lot. She advised that she would bring it up to the ARC. That was months ago, probably around March.

For those of you who do not know where I'm talking about, this house is at the corner of Maplesong and Woodlands, the newest one on the corner. The family occupied the house for nearly a year with no yard at all; I do not know how they got a Certificate of Occupancy, except that the guy is a builder, maybe he knows somebody. A small patch of sod was put in just in front of the house, which is the only part that ever gets mowed. To the right of the house is just wild weeds, and for a while they carved out a dirt driveway to back up the pickup trucks to the basement to load/unload building materials. Ladders, wheelbarrows, wood, whatever is stored outside behind the house. The resident is currently building in our neighborhood and I'm sure it is convenient for him.

My point is that I went to Ghertner directly, Joy said she would drive by and bring it to the ARCs attention. The times I've tried to reach board members no one is home, and it seems that Joy should be the point of contact anyway. It's now months later and no change. So while I am not glad to say Jack has seen the mess as well, I am glad in a way. Maybe if someone else says something it will be heard.

I agree with Jack wholeheartedly, if you are going to complain, make it something worthwhile, and give your name or at least identify yourself somehow. We need to work together to improve our lives and neighborhood.

PS-I'd also like to thank the car fairy, who came and moved the maroon sedan from Maplesong the other night...
