I'm guessing you're one of the Perky owners, otherwise why are you so interested in this?

So anyway, about that "you should have thought of that before you moved next to the bar" argument:

1. Not everyone has the economic privilege to live in the place of their choice, and just because some people don't have as much money as other people should not mean they have fewer property rights.

2. Even if someone chose to live there, the Perky was violating noise ordinances and nuisance bar ordinances. This was decided by the Liquor Control Board. Why should they be exempt from complying to the laws?

3. The household in question had lived in Oaks since 1977, back when the Perky was a quiet bar where factory workers would go after work and late night disturbances were rare. The Perky also switched owners several times since then. Only in 2009 did they start playing live music, and talking to bar owners, local township officers, etc about the noise issues did nothing. I understand that some neighbors complain about petty things (grass too tall, clothesline outside, etc) but these are not trivial complaints. On weekends, sleep was not an option until after 3am and sleep disturbances also frequently happened on weeknights, as well as trespassing, littering, and other violations. If anything, the people who wanted to sleep at night (which most people take for granted!) and basically uphold their property rights and local laws are the ones who have been demonized.

4. The Perky can find a way to run their business that complies with laws and doesn't cause conflicts with nearby residents, and I hope that they do.

Mike,

If you want to get off subject please start a new post. This post is about the Oaks Neighborhood Association, who they are and who they represent.

Everyone has heard you complain about the Perky and the noise, and your rights. Everyone in Oaks knows that your living your worst nightmare. We got it. Very little of this post had to do with the Perky and it was only used to reference previous posts on this site. Please stay with me.

If you would like to talk about the ONA and if you know who they are and are satisfied with what they do, please speak up. If you want to rehash all your boring "beating a dead horse"

complaints then MAKE A NEW POST.

Also don't really want to hear about your financial hardships. It's not anyone's fault but yours you live with your mother-in-law. Welcome to America. Pick yourself up by your own bootstraps and go out and get it. Nobody's going to give it to you least of all me.

Oaks Neighborhood Association represents for improving the quality of life in the Oaks neighborhood not to destroy the peace and sleep of the whole neighborhood by blasting loud bands at Perky and violating township ordinance laws and PALCB laws and bar patrons hanging out till 3 and 4 am ?

If you hear the violations  call the PALCB , local township and  local police

Oaksmayor - Your most recent post is coming pretty close to violating the terms of this website - comments about living with your mother-in-law and insinuating that others are not hard working are inappropriate and not compatible with the mission of this board.  Consider this a warning...

Other than that, have a nice day!
