Hi all,
I just joined a neighborhood site which seems to be fantastic. Check it out. WWW.NEXTDOOR.COM . The neighborhood it covers is JFK to DE MOTT.
Now that being said, I would like some feed back on a idea I have. I am going to print up info to place in mail boxes inviting people to this particular site, and will also mention the nextdoor site.
I believe it would be fantastic for us neighbors to have a place to discuss our local events, and concerns and believe it could grow into a place where we can actually help each other by considering creating a small co-op of such activity as a buying club. I was involved in food co-op in San Diego which worked out fantastic. After getting together and doing what it takes to please every member we got to the point where not only where we able to once a month, buy food in bulk where each neighbor received approximate $100 of store bought produce for $25. Yes - there was some work involved when that time of the month came around, but it was a real joy doing it. One thing that happened is it grew to the point where non-members would volunteer to get their share at a discount. It only takes a few people to start, and benefit from such an endeavor, but as others join, it not only gets easier, but becomes fun. I have other ideas, but the only other one I'd share right now is a neighborhood barter system. -- That is something I don't know much about, but I think it would be a blast to do it.\
Let me know what you think. Rick
