The long awaited landscaping project at the front gates should begin within a week or two. Sheri Phillips single handedly coordinated everything from getting bids to having sprinklers repaired. Thank you Sheri! It will be nice to see the entrance to our housing development professionally landscaped.
Once the landscaping is completed, we?’ll need to ensure that it continues to be kept up. We have two volunteers to maintain the beds at the Camri gate but we still need volunteers for the Benz gate. This involves pulling weeds every week or two and just keeping an eye on the area. If you would like to volunteer for the Benz gate, please contact Chris Sederbaum or Barbara Lovell.
Steve Paz has offered to keep our lights at the gates in good working order. Thanks Steve! It?’s nice to have an electrician in the neighborhood!
Diana and Bryan Swedlund have volunteered to serve on the architectural committee. A part of their duties will be to make periodic inspections through the neighborhood to ensure everyone is in compliance with our CC&Rs. Thank you Diana and Bryan for your help!
As you can see, we have made some real progress this first month. That progress was only made possible through the help of volunteers. Just giving a few hours a month of your time can make a huge impact! We still have many things still that need to be addressed and we could really use your help. Together, we can make our neighborhood one to be envied!
One issue that really needs to be addressed is the strip of land on the south side of the development. The major portion of our budget goes to mowing it throughout the summer. With fuel prices steadily increasing, we need to think of alternatives to keeping that property mowed. It is and will continue to be a financial drain on the association. Some suggestions are: not mow it, divide the land into garden plots and rent them out, plant a wild flower reserve or sell the property for storage units. We need a volunteer to look into what we can legally do with this property and organize the different options to present to the homeowners for a decision.
Another project we?’d like to get started is a website for our homeowners association. Not only would this be a great way for us to get our neighborhood news out such as garage sales or other neighborhood activities, it would also be a good selling point for someone thinking of buying or building a home in our neighborhood. If anyone is interested in putting together a website, please call or e-mail me at oldhamforbes2008@yahoo.com.
Lastly, at our last association meeting, it was brought to my attention that not all of our residents have a copy of the by-laws and CC&Rs (Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions). Please call Chris Sederbaum or e-mail her at oldhamforbes2008@yahoo.com if you would like a copy.
I look forward to serving as your president of the Oldham Forbes Estates Homeowners Association. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Gary Sederbaum
