some good points
I agree with some of what you say, Brian. You have some valid points. Maybe O'Brien was not kept on because he was not elected to city council and the Mayor had second thoughts about having someone on the committee who was not elected by the people. If I don't vote for someone because of their stand on some issues, I'm not sure I would want them on a council committee. How does that ensure that the people I voted for and what they believe determine what happens in the city? Isn't that like voting for a President of one party and then having someone of another party set policy?
Maybe I'm off the mark on this one. But, it sounds like that is what might have been going on.
I agree that the public arguments have gotten out of hand. It's getting to the point where the public is starting to dislike everyone...including those who want to sink to the low level of exploiting elected officials' health challenges and personal lives. I spoke with a newpaper friend about this so-called ''huge city scandal''.... Do you think the public will encourage and endorse your public humiliation and exploitation of someone's medical records and their personal struggles? I hope we as a city are above that. I know I am. You'd better hope everyone voting in future elections doesn't have a friend, relative or themselves suffer from any type of similar condition. People are only human.
