Last year city officials worked with the school district transportation contractor about locating the bus depot and repair facilities in the old village next to the railroad tracks on Center Street. Citizen reaction was overwhelmingly against that location because of safety concerns, traffic, noise, diesel odor and the damages to the streets that the incurred heavy traffic would cause. The proposal was withdrawn.
This year the same contractor is meeting with township officials in an attempt to locate the depot on the Pickerington North campus. Citizen reaction is seemingly against that location because of safety concerns, traffic, noise, diesel odor and the damages to the roads that the incurred heavy traffic would cause.
What are some alternatives? The city residents don?’t want the buses and the township residents don?’t want the buses. Neither want the buses located clear out near Pataskala because of the increased fuel costs to get them to and from such a location.
If you are a city resident, tell us that and where you would prefer the buses be located and why. The same if you are a township resident.
