Then Merger Makes No Sense

If the goal is to unite the entire school district under one government, then it is doomed from the outset. A Pickerington/Violet Township merger would still be only part, albeit a large part, of the school district. The entire district would still be divided.

It makes no sense, unless you are talking about having the Columbus areas secede from Columbus and merge with Pickerington/Violet Township. Of course, that sounds like an even bigger fantasy.

But as long as we're dreaming, let's make it good. Three car garages and whirlpool bathtubs for everyone! All residents of the new Pickerington/Violet Township/Columbus city (kingdom) get an above average income! All our children are gifted and excel at sports! It only snows and rains on designated days, and never to excess! The rest of the time it's 70 degrees and sunny, with a gentle breeze!

Anybody else have any wishes for our new kingdom?

Sorry for the error. Should the township Tif? IF a developer/retailer wants to be here so bad for this market, why don't they pay their way...Should a TIF be used for RETAIL?We know it can be but is that smart?

Is it smart to TIF away your revenue and increase your the burden on your fire dept? Do you do a cost benefit analysis?

If the city does not want to enter a Jedd with you, can you do it on your own, what will be the answer at the county level when you come begging for road improvements, I think they have spoken, so do you TIF?

Current Pickerington Local School District retains:

North High
Lakeview Jr. High
Harmon Middle
Tussing Elementary
Fairfield Elementary
Violet Elementary
Any purchased or donated land that is located outside the corporate limits.

Merger Wouldn't Affect PLSD

A merger of the city and township would have no impact on the school district, which would remain just as it is. We'd still have kids in our schools from other jurisdictions. I live in the township, by the way.
