Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

So Sad

Posted in: PATA
I recently visited the website www.wearewethepeople.com and started desperately missing Bob Harding. There was a time when PATA would have been out in front on the big box development issue. Bob would have been telling the story on this website and in the newsletters. He would have been taking the pictures of what has become of Hamilton Road and Brice Road.

But Bob is gone. And PATA has become just some stupid message board. I know, I know - you'll tell me to stop coming to this website and posting on it. You'll point out the fact that I am posting anonymously. You'll also point out the fact that I haven't offered to get out in front on this issue.

And the fact will remain that PATA is dying.

Sorry Coyote and Roadrunner, but if PATA is to remain relevant, it needs a face. And someone who wants to do more than just post a ''Topic of the Week''.

Even Sadder

Go take a look at the non food items at ANY Kroger store. Are they 100, 90, 80 , 70....
percent made in the U.S.? Kroger is a union store. The union workers are delivering and stocking the items at Kroger.

Isn't BUY AMERICAN!! a union slogan?

I am sick of the union rhetoric regarding Wal-Mart hurting this country. The unions have done REAL damage!

Why the ''H E double toothpick'' are the jobs leaving? Why are the jobs going to countries such as Mexcio?

Most disturbing is the Mexican population swarming our country and taking the jobs that former union workers might have had. But those former union workers were probably to good for them!

My advice to the former union workers is this...

Set your alarm clock and go hit a lick!
Who you can thank

Go thank Bill Clinton, NAFTA and the rest of the Democrats!
My responsibility???

Once again, as one of the webmasters of the PATA website, I have been scorned by a reader accusing me of allowing the site to die an unfortunate death. Yes, brothers and sisters, it is I that must bear this burden. But on this issue I can no longer remain silent.

Should I be out in the forefront of the ''BIG BOX'' issue? I guess so... but I'm not exactly sure you're going to like what I have to say about this issue. You're assuming that I'm going to take a stance against this development. You're hoping that I'm going to use this site to rally the troops against the evil developer. You're praying that I'll stand at the intersection of Pickerington and Refugee Roads wearing a PATA t-shirt and preaching the gospel according to Bob Harding.

You could not be anymore wrong. My stance on the development of this property is that the people of this community need to be make up their minds and once they make a decision, then by God they need to stick to it. For years we have heard the people here in the city and the township say that they are tired of the development of homes. The over-crowded schools, the traffic, the noise and the crime are supposedly all the evils that residential development has brought to this area. The people said they wanted commercial development in order to bring tax dollars into the community and the schools. Okay, I get that... no houses, yes commercial.

But wait, no you're saying no commercial? That makes no sense. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!!! Speaking for myself alone, if you expect me to use this forum and tell a tax paying resident of this community that they are not allowed to sell their property whenever they are so inclined... well all that I can tell you is that you may find yourself enjoying a nice frosty beverage in hell before that happens. I would be screaming from the highest roof top if I were in these people?’s shoes, so I'm certainly not going to tell them they can't sell.

Tell you what?… you want me to step down from the responsibility of maintaining this website, just say the word. Send an email identifying yourself and I will hand over my half of the reins directly to you. Quite frankly, if the PATA website stands for telling these people they cannot sell their property, I don?’t want to be any part of it. If this is the case, before I leave my post as webmaster, I?’m going change the name of the site to the Pickerington Manifesto because Karl Marx would love you people.
