There comes a time in every webmaster's life that he or she has to make a stand (no pun intended Randy). I made the decision to delete a posting below for its vulgarity. Some things have to be tolerated under our rights of free speech and some things just have to go. Sorry Coyote and former webmasters if I let you down with this decision.

I was neither amused nor titillated by the posting and apologize to all PATA participants for having to take this drastic step. This was my decision and mine alone so direct your rage at me for doing this. This was not a PATA issue, this was my issue. If this decision results in my leaving PATA, so be it. This was a moral decision on my part and the Constitution played no part in making it.

I would caution all participants in PATA to keep in mind that this site is viewed by high school students and is occasionally a topic of discussion in some high school classes simply because the schools are discussed here and the local political scene is a topic of discussion in civics classes. Those kids that come to the council meetings also look at other sources for their studies.

I would also caution all PATA participants that as long as I am a webmaster, I will do this again should any similar vulgar postings appear.

Not in you or your decision to remove the posting, just disappointed it took so long to do so and in the poster who believes this somehow resembled humor.

Learning on PATA

Why would High School students be required to view this site as part of their classroom work? What could possibly be learned here? The ''F'' word is used regularly in the hallways of both High Schools and I doubt posting the written word here will shock them. For all we know the poster of the vulgar language could have been one of these students. Before we all get too indignant we should first look at our kid's computer and see exactly which sites they have been visiting.
