Sorry, but I don't think 'kill the messenger and everyone around them' is much of an option. We, you, I, and the whiner HAD the opportunity to put up or shutup - no one PUT UP so it's time to SHUT UP.

There were two open seats for the school board for the taking - everyone in this community had the opportunity to 'turn the schools around' and NO ONE had the guts to do it.

If you're looking for 1/2 as#$(&( solutions here's another. Let's ask our state legislators to step down since they haven't fixed the school problem. Why stop there? Let's all send Pres. Bush a request to step down because Pickerington schools are overcrowded and the entire US education system is headed down the toilet and we have more people graduating from college in Phys ED then we do in Engineering!

Say the entire school board and the administration resigns? What does that accomplish? After we go through the court system to get it figured out what's next? We eventually elect 5 new board members with ZERO experience then what? Does that suddenly fix our problems because we have new faces? NO - the board is just a convenient excuse for people to bitch and moan about our schools. 5 new faces won't change that no matter how delusional you are.

In fact - I'd LOVE to see every school board member resign - let's make even more headlines in central OH - heck with that we might even make it onto ONN or even National headlines!

Dear Coyote and Roadrunner,

While I appreciate your attempts to keep discussion lively and topical, it may be time to discontinue addressing any school subjects. Frankly I thought the mayor had polarized the community with his 180 degree turn he made late last year but this continued absolute polarization caused by the school board and the school administration has taken the lead.

Haven?’t you noticed in every attempt to address schools you have made to-date that the only two types of responders you ever get have both posted already today? You have one pole demanding the resignation of the entire board and the other pole represented by people who continue to say that since no one stepped up to run then screw all of you.

Both are right and both are wrong. There are no middle-of-the-roaders posting on the subject of schools because the polarization demands you side with one extreme or the other. Neither will accept anything in between.

Keep up the good work Webmasters but choose your topics more carefully.

Thank you very much for your input regarding this weeks topic. Speaking for myself and likely the Roadrunner as well, I would love to have you or any other PATA member to offer suggestions for the topic of the week postings. Many times we rack our brains trying to come up with something timely that will spark a lively discussion. Goings on at City Hall and the school issues seem to jump to the forefront.

ALL PATA MEMBERS!! Please feel free to offer any suggestions for future topics of the week.

No solution

If five new members were to be appointed (I would think by the Fairfield County Courts?) I'm not sure there would be a benefit to the school system.

The new Board would be faced with the same problem - where to house a growing population & the best method in which to do so. Maybe we would see another Facilities Committee to relook at building options or another ReConfiguration Committee to look at what grades are housed together. There would be no experience on the Board at all, this is something that democratically we try to avoid at any level by rotating terms - why is that a good idea now?

I'm thinking that those efforts would be viewed the same as the efforts of the current Board. Pickerington has a diverse population both economically and geographically - it is not possible to satisfy everyone.

Two things won't change:

Consumerism & Quality Education are incompatible,

Self Absorbed Parents & Smart Kids are incompatible.
