Explaination needed

What has the superintendant done that causes you to feel this way. Our schools are still acheiving high scores even though they have to deal with severly over crowded condiditions. I have kids in the district and they seem to be running fine. What would you have him do different?
Nothing

That's the problem - the super is doing nothing. The community has lost faith in the school board and continue to vote with no confidence. All we have left is the super to win us back.

Instead he does nothing but cotton to the board.
Gandhi

Pam,

You've obviously been around a while. Here's my observation. See if it rings true with you.

The local issues that end up passing at the polls are the ones that already enjoy support before they're put on the ballot.

So far I have heard no outcry from residents about needing to build schools. Whether this is fair or not isn't the issue here - it's one of perception. I believe that until parents, especially, start making noise about the conditions in which their kids are being educated; until they start showing up en masse to school board meetings and demanding the board do something about it; until locals, not out-of-town ''experts'' say what will pass, the schools will have a problem passing issues.

I do believe this - it can't be the board trying to ''sell'' an issue to the public. It has to be the public ''selling'' an issue to the board.

As Gandhi once said, (this might be a paraphrase) ''There go my people, I must run to catch up with them for I am their leader.''

All of you are invited to attend the Committee for Responsible Schools kick off meeting on Wednesday September 30 at Diley middle school. The meeting will be held at 7:00pm in the cafeteria. This committee is a group of concerned community members working to maintain our standard of academic excellence. Obviously the task at hand is to pass the school bond issue.
