Today some kids saying they were from the Pickerington North March Band came to my house asking for a donation. Were they acting on their own or is this endorsed by the school?
This isn't the first time this has happened. I've had cheerleaders come to my door asking for donations too.
I don't mind if kids are selling stuff, but why would I just hand them some money? Sheesh!

Tag Day
This is a school sponsored annual event.
I prefer this method of fund raising, just get to the point.... instead of tryin to peddle or convince you to buy overpriced merchandise you may not need or want and a third party gets a big profit.

Begging is School Sponsored?
What a load of crap! The school is teaching the kids to beg?
Homeless people approach me in Meijer's parking lot asking for money. I have much more sympathy for them than for the overprivileged offspring of entitled parents.
How much of that money goes for school events, and how much goes for ipods and beer?
This SO puts me in the mood to vote to increase my taxes for the schools! I can hardly wait until November!
I guess the days of actually working for what you want really are gone forever.

School sponsored? Doubt it.
I doubt if any of the fundraising done by the PTO's, athletic teams, band, etc. is school ''sponsored'' or even school approved. While the building principal may be apprised of PTO fundraisers, I don't know if their approval is ever sought. And, I'm sure it never goes higher in the admin for approval. As for fundraising done by the various boosters, teams, clubs, I'd bet that the principals, administration and BOE is not consulted at all.
