Time to pay attention to our future
It is in the interest to all taxpayers of Pickerington and Violet Township to pay close attention to the proposed economic development agreement. If agreed upon, it could lead to more taxes to cover the roads for the big box store to move in, plus more taxes for the rebuilding of many other roads that the trustees see fit to move in more commercial development.
The advancement of more commercial is a bonus for our schools and taxpayers, but not if it allows Canal Winchester to consume all the revenue or most of the revenue from those commercial developments. More housing is in the works from Canal Winchester to overcrowd our schools.
Stopping the annexation from Pickerington may be a bonus for Violet Township according to some owners in Violet Township, but what if in the future this agreement has allowed Canal Winchester take over Violet Township? What if all that money taxpayers have paid for those roads, so commercial can move in, only allowed Canal Winchester and Reynoldsburg to reap the rewards, leaving us with the bill?
Finding out is in your best interest. Look before it hits you between the eyes and then it?’s too late.
