At the November service committe meeting, the flawed economic agreement was moved on to council. Council members Riggs and Hammond voted to move it foward. Nothing has changed in the agreement re: annexation or length of time agreement. Both said they had concerns with the agreement.
What changed? Apparently only that no one was there to give a power point presentation on the problems with the agreement and no press to expose the issue. Seems to me Councilperson Riggs is now doing what she accussed the previous City Manager of doing. Moving things foward under the cover of darkness.(No one at the meetings to speak against it.)
The next step will be to hold 2 special meetings and pass it in November so it can be in place by years end. That'll force any chance at a referendum to fight through city staff vacation schedules and force petition carriers to work in the winter month of January.
My God, what have we done to ourselves? May as well carry a recall petition for those who voted it out of committe as well.

You reap what you sow
What have WE done to ourselves? Contrary to all the warnings of what would happen with last year?’s election, YOU voted for the wrong person anyway. Don?’t blame we for this one. Through all the sources available in a campaign, including this very blog, you were warned about the politicians that were running for office and yet, despite the warnings, you elected them anyway.
You reap what you sow. Now REAP IT!!!
Shut your mouth, quit your whining and REAP IT! You failed to elect two people who were known factors with their track record and voting record on council. You may not have always agreed with them or liked the way they presented their ideas, but you know as well as I do that if you had elected those two, THIS INSANITY would not be moving out of committee into a rushed vote on council. THIS INSANITY would never have been brought up in the first place.
Riggs is doing exactly what Bushman would have done. Know why? She is Bushman incarnate. She always has been. The two people you didn?’t elect saw through her from day one. No boob on the shoulder, big white teeth in your face tactic worked with them so she was irrelevant. What is the big difference between the last Service meeting and this one, you idiot? Look at Tuesday?’s election results. Her boss and her job are GONE! She needs no more middle of the road, we need more thought statements. She is history folks.
Remember other posters telling you of PICKERINGTON PAYBACKS?? Those paybacks are not limited to personal paybacks, she is paying back this city for not supporting her and her boss. That is her MO.
Hammond? Come on. Doug Parker, of all people, made the best comment on Hammond?’s campaign when he said her door to door campaign meant going from her bedroom door to her bathroom door. She is a proxy for her politician husband. She doesn?’t have a brain nor need one. Her husband is old school folks. He says jump, she says how high honey?
This plan to give control of the city over to the township was not hatched after the last election. No, it was in the works since the 03 election. It just took a little longer to get the right mindless minions in place to assure the majority.
Stop your complaining and REAP IT.
Forget petitions and anything else. Take you medicine. You elected these people now live with them.

They just spent more money
I was emailed a copy of the version of the development agreement that was sent to council from Service. I believe the reason given for not voting on the agreement in October was that Mrs. Riggs wanted to have staff look at the document and make recommendations. I understand Staff did look at the document and they made recommendations. For what ever reason Mrs. Riggs and Mrs. Hammond ignored those recommendations and moved the ordinance on to council. The ordinance currently before council appears to say the same thing that the old one did but in different order. It also seems to be cleaned up so the lawyer finally got to look it over and edit it.
I believe Mrs. Hammond did state that she never said she was on board with the agreement but she apparently didn't have any problems voting to move it on to council. So the point here is that Mr. Fix stated in an August email that he had the four votes and I am sure those votes were re-confirmed at Grapevine Bar on the evening of October 3rd.
So we will now hear these hypocrites complain about other services being abused by councilmember's that call the law director or who ever and spend staff time and money. Clearly the staff worked with the Law Director on this economic agreement and that work was ignored. It was simple a smoke screen to show that they were still thinking about the commitment they had given Jeff Fix in July. The fact is these four majority members are ready to give the future of the city away and it is based on faith in the trustees. What happens when they are recalled?
Rumor has it that once they pass this document and after it is completely restored to the October version on the council floor by Fix you will see the Wal-Mart ''big box'' come marching back in with a (slightly) revised plan for overloading the traffic in front of the High School.
The second fact is that the county is not ready to widen the roads in the area and it will be up to the local government to do the project. I will tell you all this will generate a recall if they again try to stick the Pickerington City taxpayers with the bill.

Help Me Out Here
OK, I've seen the Economic Development Agreement. I'm on board with the fact that it's a TERRIBLE agreement for the city, but great for the township. That's quite clear.
But you said something that caught my attention, and I need more clarification. You said, ''This plan to give control of the city over to the township was not hatched after the last election. No, it was in the works since the 03 election. It just took a little longer to get the right mindless minions in place to assure the majority.''
This is where I get stuck. I helped with the 03 election, and I just didn't see this coming. Who was involved with this plot? I always thought Heidi was a little dumb but inocuous. It's clear now that I was wrong. Who else was plotting? Shaver? Again, I just didn't think he was all that smart. Fix? This is going to sound redundant, but he never struck me as a rocket scientist. I hate to even ask about this next one, but Bob Harding? If yes, please break it to me gently.
The other option is that Weltlich has been pulling the strings all along.
Did I miss anyone?
It may not even matter anymore. The city's going down the toilet.
