Tax Rates
Can't answer all your questions, but I can tell you that, according to the county auditor, taxpayers in the unincorporated portion of the township pay property tax at the rate of approximaly 9.5 mills, whereas taxpayers in the portion of the township that is in the city pay approximately 7.25 mills.

Need to check your facts
It nice that you all are trying to make some kind of political statement here. The only problem is most of your facts are incorrect. As Mr. Fix is finding out when the facts are wrong you lose support and credibility.
The property taxes in the city is higher than the unincorporated areas of the township.
There is a group in the city that is determined to move forward. It will be completely thought out before each move. Facts will be checked out and checked out again. We don't want to lose credibility in our drive.

Two differences
The unincorporated portion of the township collects 1.5 mils for a road and bridge levy. I do not believe it is charged to the incorporated city residents.
The incorporated city residents have a ''maximum'' of 5.5 mil for a police levy. Hence the difference in rates the other poster left. The police levy was renewed to the 5.5 mils about 5 years ago. Now as more people move here that levy amount goes down as the maximum allowed to be collected was the 5.5 mils.
When the police asked to have that levy renewed the effective collection rate was down to 2.6 mils per household. Again, the maximum rate when voters renew it is 5.5 mils and will then work its way down as growth spreads the debt. It took 16 years for the debt to work itself down to the effective rate of 2.6 mils.
I know this to be accurate because I worked on the levy with then police Chief John Fuller. I'll be happy to try to answer any questions.
If the other posters numbers are correct and I don't doubt them, the difference is the 1.5 mils road and bridge levy in the unincorporated area and whatever the effective rate being collected from the incorporated residents for the police levy.

Yes, but
I suggest you go to the county auditor's web site, click on FAQ, and check the township's property tax rates. City taxpayers pay at a higher rate because they must also pay the millage the city imposes. You can check that out on FAQ as well.
