A non-story
Tom Wilkinson is a rock solid administrator in this school district. He is the PERFECT individual to lead Tussing Elementary - or any other building. Aside from his administrative abilities, he is a caring, compassionate, ethical, honest, and heartfelt individual. Anyone who questions ANY of these characteristics simply does not know this man.
And to insintuate that this man is even remotely racist borders on the slanderous.
Personally, I don't need answers to any questions surrounding this non-story. If this is Mr. Wilkinson's decision, then that's good enough for me.
Did you see how quickly this story faded into the sunset? Hence my point.

Answers for Crap
1. Who is paying for this private Nurse?
What difference deos that make? Policy is policy. Do you feel that only the people that wave dollar bills should get their way?
2. How is she disruptive?
She is disruptive because of the precsedent that this will set. Next thing you know parents will be sending little Johnny to school with his own nurse due to a case of the sniffles. Far fetched you're thinking? I don't believe so. Where do you draw the line?
3. Has this private nurse been attending this little girl in the past at Tussing ES?
No idea. The staged media circus at the school failed to report all the facts as usual.
4. Is so why the change of heart?
There is zero evidence at this point that there was a change of heart. Don't feed the conspiracy fire.
5. Since teachers will not administer prescription drugs are the school nurses at Tussing qualified to take care of this little girl? If she has special needs what makes the private Nurse special?
Fairfield County is generally behind the times in terms of providing special needs care in their mainstream schools. There are alternatives however. Forest Rose is an outstanding special needs school that I'm sure that handle the needs of this child.

A few Facts....
I have volunteered at Tussing as a parent & don't know everything there is to tell I am sure.
This little girl has been at school all year with two nurses that alternate days - the other nurse is also black & the school had no problem with her.
I know last week the nurse was told she would not be allowed in the building - so it's obvious that what was on Channel 4 was staged & one side of the story. I've noticed that the Dispatch has not yet printed the story that I've found - do you wonder why?
This little girl is in class with a Special Ed Teacher & a Special Ed Assistant that can have no more than 8 children. I know one Special Ed Asst left this year - I've heard it was due to issues with this nurse - I haven't confirmed that. I do know I've heard that the nurse was not with her charge all the time like she was supposed to be which meant that the staff had to take care of the child which wouldn't be a big deal but they have 7 other children that need help that don't come with a full time nurse. It seems to me those kids deserve an education as well.

Stonewalling
I suspect the person answering the above questions is very closely connected to the school system. Your response madam or mister is the very reason that the schools and the PLSD get such a bad reputation. You are stonewalling us all with non answers.
We have a special needs child whose parent has a private nurse. We are not talking about the vast majority of the students in the school system that can go all day with no meals and run forever until bedtime and need no assistance going to the restroom. We are talking about a child confined to a wheel chair who has a nurse attending her at home. Those special needs classes normally have more than one adult person in the room with the half dozen or so students. What is disrupting about another adult? If this adult is a qualified nurse doesn't it help relieve the school staff? Is there something in this adult's background that disqualifies her from entering the school building (like a previous arrest or violation in her profession)? The point is the school system for years allows tutors in the schools to volunteer and that doesn't seem to be a problem. I see nothing wrong with a responsible adult coming into the school on their own dime or some other private party's dime to help.
What you are saying you have a policy and the principal chose to enforce that policy last week. Yea!!!! the principal is great!!!!. This ain't about the principal this is about a parent with a complaint and you folks are giving the school a bad reputation in my eyes with your hard headed stonewalling. Is there anyone at the school system that can speak for themselves and use their own brain to communicate to the public?
You idiots are making this parents claims valid.
