Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Initiative petition filed

In an e-mail Fix responded, ''Instead of focusing on how to improve the situation, this group is focused on maintaining our ability to bring in even more homes. It just doesn't make sense to me.
''I think it's ironic that the same group of guys (Gray, Hughes and Postage) that were involved in keeping issues from going before the voters by passing huge, expensive annexation issues by emergency on a regular basis, are now insisting that the voters have a say on annexation,'' he continued.
While the fight over the master agreement flared in Pickerington this week, officials from Violet Township, Canal Winchester and Lancaster began discussions on a three-way collaborative measure.
Although no word of the agreement arose during Pickerington's deliberation on its deal, Violet Township Administrator Bill Yaple said extending regional partnerships has been under consideration since the formation of the Route 33 Growth Alliance a few years ago. This coalition of public and private entities has launched a marketing campaign touting the benefits of the corridor.
Yaple said this level of cooperation is essential to capitalizing on the commercial investment expected to flow into Fairfield County as the state transforms U.S. Route 33 into a limited-access, high-speed roadway. He said the township intends to have the respective agreements with Pickerington, Lancaster and Canal Winchester work in unison, not as opposing forces.
He would not comment on whether the proposed agreement with Lancaster and Canal Winchester was crafted out of frustration with the activities in Pickerington that may derail collaborative efforts.

Message to Mr. Fix

Mr. Fix,
I am pretty sure you read things posted on this site and would like to addresses you on some of the comments you have made in the local papers.

First and foremost, the majority of the people in the group you refer to are made up of regular old everyday citizens. It isn't a group of former mayors that are out to get you. All this group is trying to do is to protect their rights. Why must the City give away annexation and zoning rights so we can deal with the township? That is political suicide. This group is also not promoting that more residential be constructed. Where did you get that idea? Things were not done in Secret. There was a time limit on the referendum and the commitee wanted to make sure there were enough valid signatures before they turned in the initiative. Over 900 people signed it. Are you so out of touch with things in this community that you had no idea that this was going on? If so, you better start paying more attention and talk to the people who you serve. I bet some of your own darn neighbors and friends signed the petitions. Did you check the names? It's scary that you are so out of the loop. Wake up Mr. Fix. Start talking to the people who you represent. Get the facts straight before you make comments in the press. In the end it will only make you look even worse in the eyes of the public.

Fix is right to ask...

Why does our city need annexation authority for residential homes? Brian and Ted, you got anything you'd like to share?... Like say more homes on deck?

How many homes are platted and ready for construction right now, does anyone know?

Building in the TWP

What you are saying is that it is OK for the township to zone and plat new home developments in the future on the borders of Pickerington but not for the City of Pickerignton to build and plat new home devleopments on their borders.
