An open letter to those I have supported in the past.

I actively campaigned for all of you in all of your elections. I supported what you stood for and what you promised to do. I no longer support your actions, decisions, statements to the press and most of all your lack of integrity.

I am sure you don?’t remember me as you had so many supporters that you never thanked nor contacted after winning your seats. Never was there a word of appreciation or acknowledgement. That was my first inkling of what to expect from you. Before and during your campaigns you were always indirectly rooting us on and you had people tell us what a great and important job we were doing. We never were graced with your presence directly. You always had something more important to do or someplace more important to be. Many of us were not invited to your exclusive victory parties. Those were reserved for Republicans or those lying just long enough to grab the shirttails of the party to gain your acknowledgement.

I am sure that the one of you that has already sought a higher office, as I am sure most to all of you will do, forgot me and the talks we had when you were considering another campaign. I am sure you forgot my words of encouragement and commitment to support you both financially and with my arms and legs on the trail as I had always done in the past. I am equally as sure you forgot the treatment you gave others that were climbing on your bandwagon and how thoughtlessly and ruthlessly you treated them after you decided not to run. Those others are friends of mine and yours and I was shocked and dismayed at how maliciously you toss people aside.

I was arm in arm and side by side with the inner circle you kept during your campaigns. I was totally committed to the cause of slower growth, more regional aspects to solving our issues and honor, ethics, morals, integrity, principles, honesty and truth you pledged to bring to office. In reviewing all of your campaign brochures I delivered, rain or shine, hot or cold, I wonder what happened that you have turned your backs on your very own words in such a short time.

What mysterious effects have besieged you since taking office that could make you turn 180 degrees from your commitment? Have you learned something new that you will not share with your constituents that make you think that the decisions you are making now are the right ones? In other words, have you simply gotten smarter than us since taking the oath? Have you seen the error of your campaign promises and now feel that taking the city in another direction is the right thing? If so, please tell us what you have learned so we can consider your decisions more open-mindedly. There will be another campaign season upon us this fall and many of those like me that worked in the past are now indecisive as to whether we would offer our sweat and money in another campaign, regardless of the candidate. If we have been this betrayed by you all, then why would we expect any less from future candidates?

Open Letter

You know, it?’s not too late to rethink your positions. I agree that cooperation with the township is necessary. But let?’s walk before we try to run. Stop thinking that any of you, or more importantly the trustees, are so smart that you can accomplish all your goals with one ordinance. Stop taking the mindset of your predecessors on earlier councils and think that your constituents are too stupid to understand issues. We understand them, and if they are complex, explain them to us but don?’t just move on thinking we could never get it.

And lastly, stop bickering among yourselves. Try not to forget that there is a single common denominator to the bickering. What one person has served since 2000 and bickered constantly with the majority of council? What person moved up later only to bicker with the minority of council constantly? What one person now says that you all have to stop the bickering and the only way to do it is by his leadership? How can you expect the person who precipitated the majority of the bickering historically to be the one capable of stopping it? You can?’t.

I hope that all of you will consider the issues coming this spring and fall with great measure. These issues will be your defining moment. If the voters make the decision to not support your stance on the issues, then they make the decision to not support you. Do not forget the past. After Issues 17, 18 and 19 passed, regardless of the percentage, the public servants at that time understood the ramifications and resigned or chose to not run again. These people were no more or less smarter than all of you. They got it after those issues and left.

If you have any of your campaign brochures left, read them and your will make the same decision if you have any honor, integrity or ethics left.

Can't change spots on a leopard

We have found out this is who they really are. We're not going to change them now. I won't be voting Riggs or Shaver this fall. Poor leadership doen't deserve reward. The newer councilpeople will take notice the first Wednesday in November. Most of us were just stepping stones on their way to fulfilling all their own egos. I feel your pain, brother.
