My intent
I guess I didn't expect any responses to this posting because no one responded to the other former supporter. My intent, and I may or may not have made the point, is that the disappointment I feel is growing with each new antic these people are up to. Now I hear that the mayor want council to pass a resolution to oppose the initiative that we all worked so hard for. What is different from this mayor doing this and Randy Hughes sending out all the ink opposing Issues 17, 18 and 19? Nothing that I can see. Just another clear message that Shaver is no different than Hughes. I at least hope he has the same testicular fortitude to resign once the issue passes in May just like Randy did.
I also hear that the township presented an annexation proposal to the city. Didn?’t we spend months blasting Joyce Bushman for her approach to annexations? Didn?’t we cite case law stating she couldn?’t beat down people?’s doors until they agreed to annexations? Didn?’t we point out that only the property owner can petition for annexation? Now we have the township, without the knowledge of the landowner, petitioning for annexation and the landowner reads about it in the paper. What unbelievable nonsense! Oh, and the township wants 40% of the income tax for their generosity. I could paste it in here, nut I think you all know the definition of extortion.
I am afraid that my disappointment may result in me not wanting to help candidates that promise change this fall. I have a really good sign location in my corner lot and a lot of my neighbors listen to what I have to say when it comes time to cast votes. I might just remain silent as everything I have told my neighbors about the candidates I have supported has been reversed. I am probably losing believability with them.
There are only two people I can think of that if they run for an office this fall I would wholeheartedly support. The reason for this is simple. They have served in the past and they remained true to their word and never wavered. That has to mean something in this town. Problem is, I doubt they could be convinced to come out of retirement and have to serve with the likes of Hammond, Fix and Smith for two years. Who could blame them?
