This sounds like the same blather we always hear when the board spends a lot of money (I read $35,000) to put a levy on a ballot and then not make a real effort to get the message out to the voters.

I didn't receive any promotional mailers about the levy. I didn't receive any phone calls asking me to vote for the levy. Nobody knocked on my door giving me information about the levy.

Apparently the levy committee thinks it can hold meetings at The Wine Guy, call a news channel, and we will all be swayed by their sophistication and celebrity. I was not.

Are the children any worse off today than they were last month? I doubt it. Don't tell me how the children are suffering when the board can afford to pay two superintendent salaries and benefits for 3.5 months.

They keep saying what good businesspeople they are. I guess we're all just too stupid to see it.

No levy slam dunk

Most people know levies in this district will never be a slam dunk, let alone the committee. Shame on you, no vote, no voice.

Can somebody tell us why when it is pouring down rain yesterday morning that the sprinklers on the North Football field are on ''watering'' the turf? The lights are on and nobody's home.

Dear no voice

Anybody who writes a check for their property taxes has a voice, vote or no vote. Especially those of us with no kids trying to do the best we feel to do the right thing.

Here's my new credo. If the Oleshefski's and the school board choose not to run a campaign with well thought out literature or some vehicle of reasonable communication other than the newspapers that can't get their stories consistant, are we then to assume that this is not all that urgent?

What's shameful is suggestions on this site to help are met with what you saw here.

Cell phones

Most of us have cell phones. It would only have required dialing information to get the number. Or calling your spouse, the school, or a friend.

Without a cell phone, it would only require driving a short distance to Steak 'N Shake or Bob Evans and using a quarter to find someone with the information.

I mean really, what would you do if you went to your office, a place of business or any type of event at all and found nobody there? What if you were supposed to meet friends somewhere and they weren't there? Would you just give up? Or would you put forth an effort to find them?

The board and the levy committee members are basically calling all of us stupid. We couldn't possibly figure out what to do!

Yet at the same time, they thing we should just intuitively know what the schools need and how we can help them satisfy their ever-growing needs.
