Township ties already
People I know in the township are already receiving campaign solicitations from Sauer.
That is unconscionable to me.

Big Deal?
What is the big deal about taking money from people that live in the township? You need money to run for office, and hard to say no to it, unless you start getting offered from builders or corrupt people like Brian Foxes of the world. What is wrong with taking some money from township folks that care to see who is elected in the city limits?

Those controlling the money
The big deal in the eyes of a city voter and taxpayer is that once they accept cash from whom ever they are then beholding to that group or the individual that donated. It is shown time and again here locally. Pre-2003 there was huge donations to local city council seats by the builders. Very rarely did they NOT get what they wanted when they went before the Pickerington City Council. This past election in 2005 Fix got most of his money from outside the city limits and you can see his votes have strongly favored the township (Weltlich) at the expense of the city taxpayers. He is also beholding to the County Republican Party. Although you would think they would have the city's best interests at heart they only want to enlarge their party and that may very well shift the power of the City Council over to the Lancaster Republicans. Remember that candidates under a partisan city council will be for the most part picked by other Republicans in the county. Granted the city voters would get to vote for them but they would be screened and selected by the party bosses.
DO WE REALLY WANT THAT?
Also remember than Brian Sauer is the Fairfield County Party Treasurer and Fix is the Secretary of the county party.
I would also bet that Brian is going to receive money from the movers and shakers of the Republican party in Lancaster. I am sure they will have set HIGH expectations for young Mr. Brian Sauer and expect a return on their investments like the builders did a few years ago of former council members.
Have any of you sent a contribution to a candidate and then been disappointed when he didn't return your phone call? Let along vote against your wishes? The township and the county party will OWN BRIAN SAUER IF HE IS ELECTED. What is the difference of giving city tax dollars away to the builders or giving them away to the township? The city loses in both cases.

The difference is...
that builders were paying off the elected officials in the old days. Didn't someone end up owning a shopping center as a result of that one? Big bucks were made and citizens were outraged. Having Republican party backing or Democratic backing happens all the time. There's a big difference between that and corporate payoffs. Each candidate will always be a member of one party or another. We count on elected officials to serve and make decisions fairly. As most of Fairfield County is Republican anyway, what's the big deal? Voters need to check out who they vote for and that's what America's all about...voting for the person you feel can represent you best. Everyone just needs to do their own research and determine who that candidate is. I don't know Mr. Sauer, but it seems like everyone will need to look at his credentials and actions and go from there. People on this web site sure seem to be afraid of his running. All you have to do is not vote for him if you don't want him to win. That's the way it works, people....
