A great big thanks to all that took the time to respond to my last posting. Hopefully the PLSD administration will take the time to read and learn from what has been stated here.
I have heard through the Central grapevine that a group of highly placed Tiger boosters have met with our new Superintendant to encourage her to make some effort in leveling the conditions at Central to get the Tiger athletes in line with the Panther athletes. My understanding is that the meeting went well and she has a good grasp on the situation.
With a little luck, she will appreciate the magnitude of the disparity between the schools since the previous and current school board members don't seem to care. Thanks again for your postings!

If Dr. Mantia gets this....
I would like her to consider this.
Many, many other cities in this country have two high schools. Many, many of those cities do not have the luxury of two complete sets of athletic facilities.
Why can't the football schedule be rearranged so that both football teams don't play at home the same day and both team can share the new facilities?
Why can baseball games, track meets, and on and on be scheduled so we poor city folks can use the Taj Mahal, too?
I mean, I sure as he!! pay for the Taj Mahal, why am I prohibited from using it?????
I don't give a rat's behind if anyone on the board reads this because they are useless when it comes to any sort of equity. If someone has access to Mantia, please print these questions and give them to her.

Good idea but...
That's not a bad idea but the Tiger athletes will never go for it and I'm sure the feeling from the Panthers is similar.
Besides, the fields would never stand up to the sort of abuse anyway. The turf at Tiger stadium is just now starting to bounce back after last years run for the state championship but I'm sure that after five home games it'll again look as though it was sent through a mulcher. And honestly, I had an opportunity to see the field at North a couple weeks ago and it looks as though it is in TERRIBLE condition. They played five games and failed to make the playoffs, granted World Harvest played a couple games there, but why is the field at Panther Stadium so torn up?
I think that from a pure fiscal perspective, it just does not make sense to destroy either school facilities in a dual use scenario rather than getting Centrals up to par with Norths.

location, location, location
If people are putting in plugs for upgraded athletic facilites at Central, here's my two cents. I'm a Central parent, but recently visited Lakeview for a tennis match. I didn't like the lay out at all. While tennis was being played at Lakeview, a track meet was being held, as well as a high school and Jr. High baseball games. Guns were constantly going off to start races, then in the middle of the meet, the National Anthem was played. At the same time, there were cheers from two different fields as something good happened at the baseball fields. A couple of baseballs even came over the fence onto the tennis courts. All this made me appreciate the spread-out nature of Central's facilities. While I too would rather have a football stadium that's actually on the same site as the high school, multiple events/games simultaneously occurring at the same location, will affect parking availability and may be disruptive to the other events. Just another thing to consider.
