MANTIA TO SPEAK AT CANDIDATES AND ISSUES FORUM TONIGHT

Superintendent Karen Mantia, Ed.D. will speak about Issue 8, the district's 5-mill instructional issue on the November 6 ballot during the Candidates and Issues Forum. The Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce, Pickerington Education Association and the Republican Club of Northwest Fairfield County are sponsoring this non-partisan community event. It features the opportunity for area residents to informally ask questions of the candidates for the Mayor of Pickerington, Pickerington City Council and Pickerington Local Schools Board of Education.

The Candidates and Issues Forum will take place this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Pickerington Lakeview Junior High School, 12445 Ault Road. Additional information related to Pickerington Local Schools' ballot issue is available via the district's Web site.
What if...?

What if they held a candidates and issues forum, didn't let anyone know until the day of the forum, and the public didn't attend? Would it be because the voters are tax-weary, or because those in power are being sneaky?
NW Club? -- Nonpartisan??

Now just hold the phone!!! I remember what happened to O'Brien two years ago with this NW Club. He wouldn't apply for their endorsement because he ran on a slate with a non-Republican. Since he coauthored the constitution and bylaws he understood that they could not endorse the non-R so to be a team player he let it go. I also think I saw some email traffic from then president Brian Sour stating that it was the obligation of the club to endorse so they did and their endorsements included the non-R. This was after he and O?’Brien had settled issues like gentlemen, although it now appears Sour was no gentleman and no man of honor. He was simply a puppet of Fix.

In the aftermath, several founding and charter members of this club resigned in disgust. Apparently all that is left of the membership is a few clingers-on and political hacks or wannabes. Now this club raises its ugly head again in an advertised NONPARTISAN come to Heysoos meeting. I think I am going to be sick!

This is nothing more than revenge on Fix?’s part. This is a trap waiting to be sprung. I only find it disheartening that two organizations I have a lot of respect for (the Chamber and the PEA) are a party to this.

Beware all former members of this club who are candidates that you are walking into a trap. Their intent will be no more than to try to embarrass you and take away from what has been a clean campaign season.

Remember that the results justify the tactics! If what was posted earlier in this forum is true that the questions at the Chamber luncheon were seeded and both the questions and answers provided to one of the Mayoral candidates but not the other is true, tonight will be a bloodbath.

I call to arms all supporters of those staunchly defended on this site to rally behind their candidates and attend this event tonight. Come out and watch to see that no traps are sprung.
Pickerington Education Assn.

The audience will be seeded with PEA members who will ask the ''right'' questions of Mantia, Brink and Reade, as opposed to the public who will want to know what Mantia et. al. are doing with our tax money.

And then at the next board meeting they will either bemoan the fact that the public is apathetic (especially if the levy is rejected), or applaud the public for asking ''interesting and informed'' questions (if the levy passes).

Maybe this is why Bob Thiede was pushed out. He wasn't enough of a ''team player''!
