Seeing as you crossed the moat and fought the dragons for the teachers contract perhaps you could pull a few numbers for the rest of us to chew on in anticipation of the upcoming push for the renewal levy:

What are the specific features of the PEA health/dental/vision insurance benefits package? Copays? Deductibles? Premiums paid by members versus premiums paid by the PLSD? Prescription coverage amounts? Requirements to use mail order, generics, etc.

A review of the retirement contributions would be useful as well. What percentage of pay is contributed to STRS by PLSD directly plus any matches provided for the 403b programs? What are the longevity stepups?

I suspect my employer's benefits package is fairly typical of private industry. I'll post our contribution requirements/benefits this weekend so we'll have something to which we can make a basic comparison.

With personnel being the bulk of the PLSD's expense perhaps there are savings the Board can be pressured into evaluating, perhaps not. It's worth a look.

The 7.9-mill renewal levy will be on the March ballot.

PEA contract negotiations will be later in the spring.

I hope you're not implying that we should hold the District hostage in March just because the PEA contract will not be re-negotiated until May/June.

After the way Katelyn was treated on this site, I'll be surprised if she responds. She dare question the health benefits of the teacher's contract and was chastised.
I thought that the school board had a 10 year plan. Is it available to post here?
