The hope of a JEDD

Fiscal responsibility

Mr. Burre,

If you live in the city, part of the money you pay to live here goes towards paying the debt on the Diley Road improvements. If you have a friend that lives in the township, they do not contribute a single cent towards it. The way that it lies now, 40% - 45% of the land along Diley is in the township. That means that they stand to reap the potential income that the land will generate due to the improvements that you are paying for. Is this fair??

No, it is not fair to me. In my opinion, unless the township residents are willing to pay their fair share of the Diley improvements, they are not entitled to a single dime in revenue that can be generated from said improvements. You can't get something for nothing!

I think it is mandatory, from a fiscal perspective, that the city council begin the process of annexing all land along Diley Road that will prosper from the city-funded improvements. Anything less would be fiscally irresponsible on council's part.

If council hasn't the determination to tag this as a source of income then we need to see if we can start the process through an initiative. We cannot sit idly by, if council chooses to, and not make every attempt to earn the rewards of our investment.

The township insists on getting something for nothing with this JEDD proposal. The city alone can't stop them. But we can stop them from getting something for nothing off our hard earned dollar along Diley.
You are wrong

The majority of the Diley project is being funded by federal dollars. Last time I looked the IRS took a chunk out of me.
