What is going on with the city trash pickup? I read that the current company will end operations on Spetember 26th.
Then what?
First; it was Local Waste now it is Rumke.
Since the city residents must contract with the new trash company how and when does that start?
Then how does that play with the trash can law? Do they still pick up on Fridays or is it anybody's guess?

Oh what the heck
I wasn't going to respond to this pathetic poster, but my keybord has gotten the best of me.
You ask what's going on with the city trash pick up. Well, a new contract has been negotiated with Rumpke for a lower rate than the other bidders.
You say you read the current company's operations will end 9/23. Well, read a little further and the new company starts 10/3. And if that paper didn't have all of the info, the council and service committee meeting minutes tell you that can link onto at the left told us that.
I called a councilperson and asked them and yes, trash day will still be Friday's. The law doesn't only apply to green and yellow trash cans. The law is colorblind and you will get a ticket for a brown trash can.
You can call city hall and ask there also, Chicken Little. The sky is not falling. Your just going to pay a little less for trash pick up.

Thank you Jeff
It is comforting to know that the city government has now employed a wise ass to respond to questions asked on this web site. Despite the fact that he is crude and misinformed he still sounds very much like a council person not willing to give their name.
The fact is that in the past I have had trouble getting a replacement dumpster when the old one was broken and numerous calls to city hall never helped.
What Mr. Wise Ass forgets here is that this new contract with Rumpke is between Rumpke and each residential household. You are looking at maybe 4 or 5 thousands contracts to be signed and paid for before the new company starts the pickup. If you drive around my neighborhood this morning there are a number of houses with huge piles of trash still waiting to be picked up from the current company.
I doubt Rumpke will pick up our trash for free. Just because it cost less doesn't mean it will be better. I have no idea what looking at the service committee and calling the councilmembers is going to do for any of us. They are not a party to this contract between me and the trash company. They simply have given this company the right to pick up trash here in Pickerington no matter what the level of service may be. They have also complicated the process by not fully informing the people with the process of how to contract for the new service. Clearly the articles in the paper have been contradictive and very confusing because council has not been able to clearly state its direction. Simply getting a lower price may not be a good deal in itself.
The point here is that the only expectations of council is that these salesmen/women from these trash haulers have presented a proposal with rates on it and they are acting only on that rate sheet. Come October 3rd, I suspect we will see trash piling up on the curbs of our city because they are not going to be able to get in contact with all of the residents in time to contract for the service. 25 days and waiting.

I want to see
I do not work for the city.
I am not Jeff.
I am not crude.
YOU used the profanity.
I am very informed.
I 'll bet with your attitude you did have trouble getting a replacement canister.
You assume I am a Mr. I assume your neutered.
I want to drive through your neighborhood and see the trash. Which one is it?
Again with the sky is falling. Do you think these companies have been through changes of service before? If your so worried, call Rumpke now and get ahead of the curve. What a wuss.
Lastly, about the trash piling up on the curbs October 3rd. You must be Chicken Little's dad because you seem so certain that we are all doomed to get The Plague from all of the rats that will follow. Do you work for Waste Management?
